A talk by Menachem Klein ©2008 Army Armstrong Films, LLC (60 minutes) |
A Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at Bar-Ilan University, Ramat-Gan,
Israel, Dr. Klein was
an Israeli participant in the two-year Geneva Accord peace process.
His book, A Possible Peace Between Israel & Palestine:
An Insider's Account of the Geneva Initiative
recounts these negotiations.
In this talk, Dr. Klein summarizes the approach to and primary principles used by Israelis and Palestinians to negotiate the Geneva Accord, and outlines its provisions. He then opens the floor to a lively question-and-answer session. The questions range over many topics: the acceptability of the Geneva Initiative "package" to ordinary citizens as well as leaders in Israel and Palestine; the role of the Israeli government in promoting settlements in the Palestinian territories; the wisdom of a two-state solution, and recommendations for the next President of the United States on Israel and Palestine.
